Two Arrested Following Seizure Of Explosives In Ballybough Last Night

Two man have been arrested following the seizure of a quantity of explosive devices from a vehicle in Ballybough last night by Gardaí.

According to RTÉ, a car was forced to halt on Spring Garden Street in Ballybough at around 6pm yesterday evening by heavily armed officers from the Emergency Response Unit and the Special Detective Unit. 

They then discovered what they believed to be a series detonators and semtex.

The surrounding Dublin 3 area was then cleared and cordoned off, allowing the army bomb disposal team in to ensure the area was made safe.

The two men have since been detained by Gardaí.

The scene at Ballybough has since been declared safe.
