Two Irish Brothers Are The Youngest Self-Made Billionaires In The World

Éadaoin Fitzmaurice

Imagine waking up from a night out and not having that minor panic of “oh god I hope I didn’t bleed my bank account dry.”

In fact, just imagine waking up and thinking to yourself “I’m a bloody billionaire”, – well for 27-year-old Tipperary man John Collison that’s a reality.

He is the youngest self-made billionaire as a result of his company Stripe, which he set up with his older brother in 2011. It is a software system that enables companies all over the world to operate online payments on their websites.

The company is valued at $9.2 billion, has 750 employees and 100,000 global customers. Forbes estimate from this, that the pair are worth about 1.1 billion each. We would love to see how these guys live.

John and his brother grew up in Tipp and both dropped out of university during their studies. They now run the company and live together in San Fran, in what we can only imagine is the ultimate bachelor pad.

Ah sure we all love to see the Irish doing well don’t we?

Hon’ the lads!
