Urging people to take extra care in the coming days, Met Éireann forecasters have issued a Status Yellow weather warning, predicting that freezing temperatures and icy patches are on the way.
You’ve may have already taken the Christmas tree down by now but we’d advise against packing away the winter woolies just yet as it sounds like the current cold spell is set to continue for another few days if Met Éireann is to be believed.
Warning the public that freezing temperatures are on the way, forecasters issued a Status Yellow ice warning for 14 different counties today. In place from 4pm this evening, the warning extends to 10am tomorrow morning and applies to each of the following areas:
- Connacht
- Cavan
- Monaghan
- Donegal
- Longford
- Clare
- Antrim
- Armagh
- Down
- Tyrone

According to the Met Éireann website:
“Very cold tonight with temperatures falling to between -2 and -5 degrees, possibly colder locally, with a widespread severe frost.
“Icy patches may form on untreated surfaces. Freezing temperatures will persist well into the day on Wednesday.”
Mist and some freezing fog patches are also expected in areas.
