USA, France and Germany set to be added to Ireland's mandatory quarantine list

The United States and EU countries such as France, Germany and Italy are in line to be added to Ireland's mandatory quarantine list, it has been reported.

The Irish Independent has stated that a new list of 43 countries for mandatory quarantine is being drawn up and will include the aforementioned nations. A decision will be made later this week but it is feared that it could cause some diplomatic tensions with certain key countries. Currently, there are 33 countries on Ireland's mandatory quarantine list as outlined below:

  • Angola
  • Botswana
  • Burundi
  • Cape Verde
  • Democratic Republic of the Congo
  • Lesotho
  • Malawi

  • Mauritius
  • Mozambique
  • Namibia
  • Republic of South Africa
  • Rwanda
  • Seychelles
  • Tanzania
  • Zambia
  • Zimbabwe
  • Argentina
  • Bolivia
  • Brazil
  • Chile
  • Colombia
  • Ecuador
  • French Guiana
  • Guyana
  • Panama
  • Paraguay
  • Peru
  • Suriname

The Government states that 'Mandatory quarantine requirements apply to all persons who have been overseas in the 14-days prior to entering Ireland. Arrivals from designated high-risk countries are subject to mandatory hotel quarantine.'
