Following the horrific murders of Aidan Moffitt and Michael Snee at their homes in Sligo, a number of vigils are being held to remember the two men.
The murders have sent shockwaves through Ireland’s LGBTQ community, Sligo and the country as a whole.
Currently, A 22-year-old man is being held by Gardaí in relation to the killings.
In a statement following the deaths of Aidan and Michael, LGBT Ireland said:
This has been a dark week for the LGBTI+ community in Ireland. We are still reeling from the vicious homophobic assault on Dame Street in Dublin in recent days and, now, we are deeply saddened by events in Sligo. Our thoughts are with the victims and their loved ones.
We’ve compiled a list of all the vigils we’re aware of being held for the two men across the country over the coming days. If you have details of a vigil and would like it added to the list, please contact [email protected].
