Three Irish Teenagers Injured In Horrific ‘Acid Attack’

Three innocent teenagers from Waterford were left needing hospital treatment after a shocking acid attack last week.

A corrosive substance was reportedly thrown at the three boys in Earlscourt, Waterford at around 11pm last Thursday in a case of mistaken identity, according to The Mirror.

17-year-old Tega Agberhiere was rushed to hospital after the attack and is still being treated for his serious injuries.

Four males said to be in their late teens were arrested but later released without charge.

Tega’s mother told local Waterford radio station WLRFM last night, “He is getting better, but he is still in the hospital.

“I feel the whole world was on top of me. I was really angry. Initially when I was asking myself… they could have looked for me to pour the acid on me? Why my son? Why him?”

Speaking to the radio station today, she said, “He was in so much pain, it was terrible. He was in serious pain. But at least the guards took him to the hospital early or it would have been worse.

“The burns are first-degree burns, the good thing is that he was wearing contact lenses.”

Tega had worried after the accident that he might never see again; he has been moved to a Cork hospital to continue his treatment due to the severity of his injuries.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses and anyone with information about the attack is asked to contact Waterford Garda Station on 051 305300 or the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111.
