Weather expert confirms that there’ll be ‘great drying out’ this weekend and into next week

It’s been a fairly miserable start to 2021 for obvious reasons but it’s fair to say that the weather hasn’t helped.

January and the start of February were notable for wet, windy and snowy conditions, depending on whatever mood the weather was in on any given day. That all changed when the sun popped out for a few days particularly on Sunday and into Monday of this week.

After a brief hiatus midweek, Thursday has been a positively pleasant one and thankfully it looks like things are going to stay like that as we head into the weekend. Irish Twitter’s regular weather expert Alan O’Reilly (AKA Carlow Weather) has given a positive outlook for the days ahead, posting that the weather will stay sunny, due to ‘high pressure through tomorrow, into the weekend and the early days of next week.’

With the added hashtag of #greatdryingout, we’ll certainly take that…

Met Éireann’s official outlook for the next few days is as follows: ‘High pressure bringing a lot of dry and calm weather. There will be a mix of cloud and some sunny spells, with a slight chance of light rain or drizzle at times, mainly along Atlantic coasts. Cool at night with a risk of a slight frost and fog as winds ease.’

Temperatures could reach 13 degrees on Saturday so whatever your plan is for the day, you should make time to get some fresh air safely and within your 5km. A more detailed forecast can be found here.
