It’s not often that you’d hear calls for a duvet day on the RTE weather forecast but Alan O’Reilly of Carlow Weather is getting right to the point with his prediction for this Sunday.
Carlow Weather, one of the more popular accounts on Twitter for weather updates, is run by Alan O’Reilly and his outlook for the weekend isn’t too promising if you’re looking to get out and about.
We’ve already heard that Ireland will be feeling the remnants of Storm Alex for the remainder of the week and there would have been plenty of people awoken by the noise of the driving rain in the early hours of Friday morning. Scattered rain showers will continue on Saturday but Met Éireann’s forecast for Sunday is slightly more ominous, with ‘heavy and prolonged rain leading to a risk of localised flooding.’
Or, as Alan states it’ll basically be a ‘duvet day’, one in which you place yourself on the sofa and kick back with the sport on TV or your latest Netflix binge…

The weather is certainly helping with the advice to reduce our social contacts and with the evenings drawing in, it’s starting to feel a bit wintry out there. A full outlook for the coming days can be found here.
