It looks like three counties in particular should expect the brunt of the cold.
At the time of writing, there is still a snow and ice warning in place for several counties, and while that warning is due to be lifted this afternoon, the cold weather isn’t going anywhere in a hurry.
In fact, according to a forecast published by Carlow Weather, parts of the country should expect the windchill to drop to as low as -5 this evening.
It looks like Cork, Wexford, and Down should anticipate some drastically cold weather, while their neighbouring counties won’t be too far behind.
While it could be worse (it looks like parts of Scotland will be dropping to as low as -10), it will still require everyone wrapping up warm if you’re heading out.
Meanwhile, Met Eireann’s forecast for the rest of the week sees a lot of ice and wintery showers on the way, with every single night from now until at least Monday, January 4 seeing temperatures drop below freezing each night.
