Weather Warning Issued As Tropical Storm Ernesto Approaches Ireland

Darragh Berry

Things just got serious.

As we heard this morning, Storm Ernesto is on the way to Ireland and the tropical storm is set to batter our small little country this weekend.

We are supposed to get the tail-end of the post-tropical cyclone which is feared might turn into a hurricane by Saturday.

It’s meant to be at its worst in Ireland on Saturday night and Met Éireann have just issued a Weather Warning for the whole of Ireland.

The Status Yellow warning states:

“High intensity rainfall over a relatively short period of time for many areas on Saturday night associated with the remnants of Tropical Storm Ernesto.

Totals up to 20mm could occur quite widely with higher falls locally. The situation will continue to be monitored.”

It was issued at 12pm on Friday and is in place from Saturday at 8pm until Sunday morning at 8am.

Be careful out there, folks.
