Three Weather Warnings Issued By Met Éireann With Heavy Rain And Strong Gales On The Way

Met Éireann has issued three separate weather warnings for heavy rain and gales around the country.

A status yellow rainfall warning is in place for Connacht, Kilkenny, Clare, Kerry, Limerick and Tipperary as of Saturday evening and will remain until Monday at 6pm.

The warning says, ‘In the 48 hour period from Saturday evening to Monday evening, a spell of heavy rain through Saturday night and Sunday followed by a second spell of heavy rain later on Sunday night and Monday will give significant rainfall amounts.

‘Spot flooding and hazardous driving conditions in many areas. Rainfall amounts will be highest in mountainous areas.’

There is also a status orange rainfall warning for Cork and Waterford that applies from Saturday evening until Monday at 5pm.

It reads, ‘In the 48 hour period from Saturday evening to Monday evening, a spell of heavy rain through Saturday night and Sunday followed by a second spell of heavy rain later on Sunday night and Monday will give large rainfall amounts.

‘Flooding and hazardous driving conditions in many areas. Rainfall amounts will be highest along the south coast and in mountainous areas.’

A status yellow gale warning was issued by Met Éireann that reads, ‘Southeast winds will reach gale force at times today on all Irish coastal waters and on the Irish Sea.

‘Southeast gales or strong gales will follow tonight on all sea areas.’
