Yesterday evening, Waterford-based group Pride of the Déise announced they had Pride flags available for collection in the city for anyone looking to show their support for the LQBTQ+ community.
And Déise Pride is clearly alive and strong as the flags ran out less than a day later!
The group were overwhelmed with the response and thanked the people of Waterford for their support and solidarity on their stories. It’s great news following attempts earlier in the week to cut down and burn Pride flags elsewhere in the city. Acts like this highlight how important and necessary Pride is, and it’s great to hear how many people and businesses want to stand with Pride of Déise against homophobia. Operation paint the city in rainbows has been a success!
