Raise Awareness For Mental Health Right Now… By Doing A Little Dance

James Fenton

For centuries, dance has been used to spread positivity around the world and today a new campaign has been launched in Ireland to encourage people to do just that.

St. Patrick’s Mental Health Services is calling on the nation to show support for ‘A Single Step Leads To The Biggest Change’, which aims to inspire people to take positive steps to improve their mental health.

The campaign is asking people to take a video of themselves performing very simple dance steps and to post that video to social media under the hashtag #ASingleStep. It could be anything from an Irish jig to a moonwalk, a salsa, or a waltz. Or if you want to really be down with the younger generation, why not try a dab or a floss? Anything goes!

RTÉ presenter Bláthnaid Treacy, Dancing with the Stars professional Karen Byrne, social media sensation James Patrice and Dancing with the Stars judge Brian Redmond have all shown support for the hugely important campaign already and a quick search of #ASingleStep on social media will lead to plenty of inspiration.

St. Patrick’s Mental Health Services is Ireland’s largest not-for-profit mental health service provider whose vision is for a society where all citizens are empowered and given the opportunity to live mentally healthy lives.

#ASingleStep invites the public to promote positive mental health in a fun, creative way and that really is something that everyone can get on board with.
