Itching to get away but not sure where to go? We may be able to help you with that. Because we are teaming up with Expressway to inspire you to take a trip this summer. You know what? You deserve it.
‘Why?’, you might ask. Well, Expressway has just added 30 new coaches into their fleet, meaning travelling to your staycation destination by coach has never been more comfortable and stylish.
There are a number of features that make them a simply superior form of travel, including toilet facilities, 4G WiFi, charging plugs, reclining leather seats and climate control air conditioning. Jaysus, you may even want to stay on the coach once you reach your destination.
But, if you fancy hopping off and doing a bit of exploring, we’re here to help you with that. The brand new coaches will be running on routes including 40 (Waterford to Cork), 51 (Galway to Cork) and 64 (Derry to Galway via Sligo). So, that gives us a good starting point.
Let’s get into it.
Salthill, Galway
Salthill is the epitome of an Irish holiday at home. Between the amusements, the beach, the pier and the aquarium, there is so much for you to do, whether you’re with kids, your partner or your mates. Walking here from Galway City Centre will take you no more than 20 minutes!
Cork City
Cork City is the perfect base to explore much of the county. But the city itself is well worth spending a weekend in. Cork City Goal is fascinating as is Blackrock Castle Observatory. Oh, and there is even a food trail you can go on, as well as a multitude of restaurants providing stellar outdoor dining.
Waterford City
Featuring thought-provoking street art, excellent pubs and restaurants and quirky shops and cafes, Waterford City really is a lovely staycation option, whether you’re in the market for thrills or relaxation. From here, you can take on the epic Waterford Greenway. We promise you, the views as you cycle along are so worth it. The nearby town of Dungarvan is also worth paying a visit to for its wonderful pubs and restaurants, as well as its beaches.
Galway’s Latin Quarter
Soak in Galway’s medieval heritage in the Latin Quarter. Home to cute shops, super cosy pubs and cobbled streets, it’s a tiny corner of the city that fully owns its identity. With plenty of accommodation options around, it’s the ideal base for all of your Galwegian explorations.

Derry
I’d imagine since the release and growing popularity of Derry Girls, this city has seen a boost in visitors. Besides its TV fame, there are many attractions to draw you here, such as the Museum of Free Derry, a guided tour of the city walls, the Siege Museum and stunning nature spots around the city like St Columb’s Park and Ness Country Park.
So, what are you waiting for? It’s time to experience some of the cultural, natural and culinary excitement that Ireland has to offer. And if you’re going, you may as well go in style.
With features like reclining leather seats, 4G WiFi, onboard toilets and more, your journey to your chosen destination will be nothing short of relaxed and cosy.
