The 12 Twists Of Christmas: This Is The Only Way To Make A Classic Gin And Tonic

Éadaoin Fitzmaurice

Ah, the glorious gin and tonic! Sure there’s nothing better is there?

It’s super refreshing, light and it’ll put a pep in your step.

Thing is, lately there’s a lot of fuss being made over what started as a very simple and humble drink.

Now don’t get me wrong, I love trying all the new garnishes and flavours but sometimes I just want to go back to basics.

Today is one of those days.

Say hello to The 12 Twists Of Christmas!

We’re teaming up with Schweppes to bring you the ultimate guide of cocktail wonderfulness.

If you haven’t guessed already, this week we’ll be sharing with you how to make the ultimate G&T – the way an original should be made.

Say hello to the Perfect G&T.

A mix like this will prove to you that soulmates do exist.

This perfect pairing is created with Dingle Gin and Schweppes 1783 Crisp Tonic Water. Garnished with lemon peel and juniper berries.

Dingle Gin is made in Ireland’s first purpose built distillery in over 100 years. The gin was created to be completely unique, to work within the great tradition of distilling and also come with a degree of innovation.

It has a unique character and flavour profile thanks to the specific choice of locally sourced botanicals. Some of the botanicals include rowan berry, fuchsia, bog myrtle, hawthorn and heather, for a real taste of the Kerry landscape.

My dad is from Kerry so I’ve always felt a bit of my heart there. I always adore having an Irish gin because it feels much more personal and it’s important to support your own.

All you need to make this stellar drink is these simple ingredients:

Ingredients

• 50ml Dingle Gin

• 150ml Schweppes 1783 Crisp Tonic Water

Garnish: lemon peel and juniper berries

Method

Fill a copa glass with cubed ice. Pour the Dingle gin over the ice and mix with Schweppes 1783 Crisp Tonic Water.

It’s quick, simple and easy – less stress, more success!

Fall in love with the simple G&T all over again.

Don’t forget to drink responsibly.
