When are the All-Ireland semi-finals and finals? The football and hurling dates you need to know

James Fenton

None of us are used to the All-Ireland Championships reaching their conclusion in the depths of winter but this is no ordinary year.

The nation is still catching its breath after a weekend full of GAA drama which was made all the more poignant by the association marking the 100th anniversary of Bloody Sunday. Tipperary, wearing jerseys paying tribute to Michael Hogan who lost his life playing for the county that day, secured their first Munster Football title in 85 years before Cavan became Ulster champions for the first time since 1997.

Meanwhile, in the hurling, Waterford and Galway booked their passage to the All-Ireland semi-finals where they will meet Kilkenny and Limerick respectively. It all sets up what should be a memorable few weeks as the battles for Sam Maguire and Liam MacCarthy rage on.
