Christmas markets and festive lights display to return to Roscommon this December

Roscommon Christmas Markets

Expect bustling markets, lights & illuminations, Santa’s Grotto and street theatre. 

Announcements of Christmas markets popping up all over the country is an indicator that Silly Season™ is almost upon us, and if you’re ready to get celebrating the Roscommon Christmas Festival is definitely one to add to your list.

Making its tinsel-clad return to Roscommon on Saturday, December 9th, this year the festival is bringing the seasonal ambiance and a wide range of exciting events.

Highlights of Roscommon Christmas Festival include:

An Enchanted Christmas Trail at Loughnaneane Park, Roscommon 9th & 10th December 

Loughnaneane Park will shine bright with an enchanting display of lights and Christmas characters, alongside nightly performances from Enchanted Croí Theatre in an all-new theatre production, The Night the Toys Sparkled”. The park will be transformed into a mesmerising winter wonderland with twinkling lights and Christmas scenes creating a truly magical ambiance. Entrance to the park is available from 5.30pm – 8pm each night.

Bustling Markets in Roscommon Town Square 

The heart of the festival beats in Roscommon Town Square, where over 40 market stalls will showcase a delightful array of goods and products. From beautifully crafted items to locally sourced produce and tempting festive treats, there’s something to satisfy every taste. The market will also feature live entertainment, including carols, dance acts, street performances, and a captivating dinosaur display, and of course, the iconic Santa’s Grotto – a vibrant and joyous experience for all.

Culinary Delights

Get ready for a mouth-watering Christmas culinary experience and discover delightful festive recipes from award-winning TV Chef Sham on Sunday, 10th December, at 2pm in the Roscommon Town Square in an exclusive cooking demonstration.

Meanwhile if you’re looking to pay a visit to the man in red, Santa’s Grotto will be in situ at the Harrison Centre in Roscommon Town on December 8th–10th, 15th–17th, and 22nd–23rd, with all proceeds donated to Roscommon Cancer Support Service in Vita House Family Centre.
