The Towns With The Highest And Lowest Pass Rate For The Driving Test Have Been Revealed

Darragh Berry

Taking your driving test is one of the scariest things you will do in this lifetime. If you were one of the lucky ones who managed to get over the line the first time we have two things to say: Congratulations, but more importantly tell us your secret.

Well, it looks like we have found another secret to passing your driving test immediately as the Road Safety Authority (RSA) has released a list of the towns with the highest and lowest pass rates.

The statistics – which are taken from 2016 – show that west is best with the top five towns with the highest pass rate coming from there.

The figures don’t shine a great light on people who want to take their driving test in Dublin…

The five towns with the lowest pass rate were found in the capital but two of the centres have since closed down.

The five towns with the highest pass rate:

Ennis 73.25%

Newcastle West 70.64%

Roscommon 70.17%

Clifden 70.12%

Sligo 69.63%

The five towns with the lowest pass rate:

Churchtown 42.41%

Dun Laoghaire (closed on 11/06/2016) 45.16%

Tallaght 45.22%

Raheny 46.53%

Rathgar (closed on 16/01/2016) 47.44%

Ennis has appeared in the top 10 for the highest pass rates in each of the five years up to and including 2016 while six centres around the country (Tallaght, Rathgar, Raheny, Finglas, Wicklow and Naas) have featured in the top ten for the lowest pass rate for the last five years running.

You can find the full list which includes each test centre on the RSA website.
