Aer Lingus and Ryanair had a very funny tweet-off about their landings

A short-lived but very entertaining Twitter spat took place.

We’re not quite sure what is going on, but 2020 really is bringing out everyone’s A-game on Twitter.

Case in point: literally everything Jedward have posted this year.

Huge international businesses have also upped their social game, and a short (but very funny) spat between Aer Lingus and Ryanir on Monday evening is the latest testament to that.

It all began when 2FM host Carl Mullen posted a mini-sketch of the differences between an Aer Lingus landing and a Ryanair landing.

Just a few hours after setting it live, Aer Lingus retweeted his sketch with nothing more than “True story”:

Jump forward another few hours, and Ryanair fired back, quote tweeting Aer Lingus’ tweet with an image of their own, showing what is apparently the number of Aer Lingus flights over Europe at that moment, alongside the number of Ryanair flights over Europe at that same moment.

Along with the image, Ryanair tweeted: “lads, what would you know about landings?”

At the time of writing, Aer Lingus had not yet replied to Ryanair’s retaliation, but even if it ends here, it just goes to show that 2020 is definitely bringing out the randomness in everyone on social media. Sure it’s all in good fun!
