Cork is set to get as many as seven brand new hotels over the next few years, according to a study by Savills Ireland.
Hoteliers and developers are looking at creating 1,355 new hotel bedrooms in the city, including seven new builds and four extensions to existing hotels.
Five hotels have got planning permission for an extra 360 bedrooms, including The Maldron Hotel on the junction of Beasley Street and South Mall.
Ireland’s first floating hotel or ‘floatel’ has also been given the green light.
The luxury ship ‘My Story’ is 105m long and boasts 87 cabins, three decks, lounge areas, a restaurant and sun deck.
