If You Think The Toilet Is The Dirtiest Place In An Airport Then You’re Sadly Mistaken

James Fenton

With thousands of passengers passing through airports every day, it’s probably fair to say that keeping the buildings spick and span 24/7 is quite a tall order. People have been traveling across the globe, often picking up a heap of germs along the way which are then spread across any surface which their hands come into contact with.

One would assume that the toilets are the filthiest place in airports but you might be shocked to learn that this actually isn’t the case. According to InsuranceQuotes.com, the dirtiest places are actually the self check-in kiosks.

The company conducted 18 tests across six surfaces at three major U.S. airports and found that the check-in kiosks are 200% more germ-infested than the average home toilet seat…

The second filthiest area of an airport is the armrest on the seats next to the gates while the water fountain button came in third.

We’ll be sure to stock up on hand sanitiser next time we’re flying anywhere.
