Check out this Irish project raising funds to combat homelessness

Katy Thornton

Homelessness is a huge issue in Ireland today.

The housing crisis is a very real problem in Ireland. Unfortunately our country does not have an appropriate housing system to meet the needs of society. Fair Rent has decided enough is enough, and hopes to educate the masses on what is going on in this country, and how we can help.

According to the website, their agenda is to bring “an end to rack-renting, which is the charging of extremely high rents in comparison to the actual value of the property and the average salary of the tenant. They hope to raise money for homelessness charities by selling sweatshirts and hoodies with their logo. Each item comes in black and grey, and sells for €40 each. They run from a size S to a size 6XL, making them inclusive for their buyers. Each geansaí is made of 65% cotton and 35% polyester. They are also unisex.

The website states that “All profits will be donated to Charities battling Homelessness in Ireland” so not only will you get a great quality hoody, you’ll also know you have contributed to helping some very worthwhile charities.

Fair Rent is also committed to educating their followers on social media. They aim to post three times a week on their socials. Rewind Wednesdays focuses on Ireland’s past and present with housing. Saucy Saturdays collaborates with well known Irish figures. Snippet Sundays focus on a snippet of a conversation with an everyday Irish person affected by the crisis.
