When you get stressed or are just feeling like you need to get away from it all nothing beats the feeling of checking into an Irish country hotel.

You could easily head off on a cheap flight to the South of Spain or on a city break across Europe but some of these gems are only going to be an hour down the road from you, so why not make the most of the stunning hotels we have on our isle?

There’s really no time like the present. Time to book some time off work, find a friend or partner and head to one of these dream country hotels…

1. Monart

The perfect getaway and one of the best spas not only in Ireland but in the entire world. Don’t even have to get out of your robe to walk around the hotel.

2. Ashford Castle

Recently had a massive upgrade and the host of Rory McIlroy’s wedding. One of the world’s great castles.

3. The Europe Hotel

When you think of hotels with stunning views this one has to be right up there with the best in the world. Lots to do and see in the area and an incredible escape.

4. Ballyfin

Like walking into a period drama on TV. The most incredible place to go and unwind and escape all the noise in the modern world.

5. Ballynahinch Castle

As pretty as a postcard. You could spend the whole time looking at the scenery but also has lots of activities and amazing food and drink.

Well known for their cookery course but also a great place to come and stay and just eat lots and lots of amazing fresh food.

Another cookery school run by celebrity chef Kevin Dundon but also a beautiful country house with amazing food and drinks and the perfect place to escape it all.

Home to Nevin McGuire and his wonderful restaurant. Talk to anybody who has stayed here and they’ll still be raving about it years later.

9. Luttrellstown Castle Resort

Obviously will be forever known as the place where the Beckham’s got married but this stunning spot has so much more to it than that. An amazing escape with stunning grounds.

10. Castle Leslie

Renovated to a high standard with both the old castle and newer buildings looking fantastic. Especially good for those interested in long walks and horse riding.

11. Wineport Lodge

A wonderful escape in the heart of Ireland. Set on a lake you’ll be able to eat unbelievable food as well as indulging in their outstanding wine list.

12. Sheen Falls

One of the prettiest settings you could ever imagine for a hotel. Lots to do in the area but you may just want to sit there having afternoon tea taking it all in.

13. The K Club

Best known as a world class golf club but also one of the most luxurious hotels in the country. Like stepping into a luxury world as soon as you step foot in here.

14. Adare Manor

This is the spot that has something for everybody and which has been recently massively upgraded. Stunning golf, a great spa and scenery to die for.

15. The Ice House

Way out West and in the quiet town of Ballina. You’ll be able to completely unwind here while sitting in the hot tub taking it all in.

16. Dromoland Castle

Another hotel that has recently been upgraded. Their setting is unbelievably pretty and what makes this spot even more amazing are their incredible staff.

17. Marfield House

A classic country house in every sense of the word. Their big selling point is the food with the vast majority of it coming from their own wonderful walled garden.

18. Trump International

Forget about the owner and focus on the setting. As stunning as it gets with amazing scenery and a golf course that would rival any out there.

This is the hotel that really has it all and will have you never wanting to leave. The scenery, the spa, the food and the location make this a world class spot.

Built into the cliffs with stunning views of the small bay you’ll find that all your problems melt away when you arrive. Having an outdoor bath here is as relaxing as it gets.

One of the truly great Irish hotels that has been at the top of it’s game for years. Loads to see in Kerry but as soon as you get here you’ll probably not even want to leave the place once.

A serious spot if you’re looking to completely unwind, this classy resort has an entire thermal spa village on site, including a riverside hot tub. Oh, and there’s a whole room filled to the brim with hundreds of varieties of gin.

23. Great Southern Killarney

Previously known as The Malton, this will return to its historic namesake in 2018, following a refurb which has seen a Grand Ballroom restored to Victorian glory. A true country house hotel, this is an ultra classy place to spend an evening sipping on champagne.
