Waiting ages for your luggage after a long or even a short flight is one part of travelling we could all do without.Â
You’re tired, you’re cranky and let’s face it, you don’t exactly smell like roses after all that time sitting in a stuffy plane.Â
Luckily for us, airport ramp worker and gate agent Thomas Lo Sciuto has written on Quora to share some tips on how to ensure your luggage comes out first. His words were picked up by TIME Magazine and they could go a long way to saving us all some precious time. Here are Lo Sciuto’s tips:
Ask for your bag to be marked as fragile
Bags that are marked as fragile will typically be loaded later and come out before the other bags. Plus, they’re also likely to get less wear and tear.
Be the last person to check inÂ
If you check in last, your bags will be in the last bag cart, which will make them the last on the aircraft, and the first off the aircraft at your destination.
Ask for your bag to be gate checked
In other words, ask if you can have your bag placed in a special section near the front of the plane and returned to you immediately after you exit. This is usually possible on smaller planes with limited overhead baggage space.Â
Traveling will never be as stressful again.Â
