It’s just been announced that Aer Lingus will be introducing wi-fi on short-haul flights from next year.
The move comes from the airline’s parent company International Airlines Group (IAG), who has decided to introduce high-speed wireless internet to 341 of its aircraft, which includes 39 Aer Lingus planes.
Chief executive of IAGÂ Willie Walsh said,
We are giving our customers the fastest connectivity you can get on any aircraft. Having announced wifi for long-haul flights earlier this year we are now equipping our airlines’ short-haul fleets with in-flight broadband access.
Connectivity is essential because it’s what our customers demand and IAG will be the first European airline group to offer high-quality air to ground wifi on short-haul flights.
Aer Lingus’ short-haul aircraft will be equipped with wi-fi in late 2017.
