A teenage boy has been airlifted to Cork University Hospital after suffering head injuries while out boating this morning.

The Irish Examiner reports that the boy was injured while on a sailing boat in West Cork.

It’s believed he may have been struck in the head by a boom.

Valentia Coast Guard organised the Waterford-based rescue services to rescue the boy.

The boy was taken, by helicopter, to Cork Hospital where it landed on a makeshift site at approximately 12.30pm, before arriving at the hospital via ambulance.

It’s understood the boy’s condition has improved since the initial incident.
