These Are The 10 Best Places In Ireland For A Camping Holiday This Year

Sarah

Camping holidays (if the weather is like it is right now anyway) are genuinely some of the best craic you’ll ever experience.

Whether it’s with a big gang of mates or just you and boo, roasting the shit out of sausages on a DIY campfire (although a small cooking stove is a better idea if you don’t have experience of lighting safe outdoor fires!) and watching the sun rise from your tent is a memory you’ll never forget.

All you need is some warm blankets, a few cans and never-ending patience when it comes to tent poles and your summer hollier is sorted – and for cheap too.

Here’s 11 of the best places to embrace the wilderness in Ireland…

1. Acton’s Beachside Camping Park, Co. Galway

This eco-friendly campsite riiiight by the beach in Clifden between the Atlantic and the Twelve Bens is all about good clean craic.

There’s a free shuttle bus to Clifden village, but you won’t want to leave the secluded white sand.

2. The Apple Caravan & Camping Park, Co. Tipperary

Fancy a free welcome carafe of homemade apple juice on arrival? Course ya do.

This family apple farm has hot showers, pretty orchards, and a big converted apple store for cooking and hanging out in.

3. Chléire Haven, Co. Cork

Located right at the entrance to Roaringwater Bay, this is the ideal spot for camping with a bitta comfort.

Yurts and teepees on site come with log stoves, gas cookers, real beds, solar-heated showers and overhead windows, and the views are unreal.

4. Pure Camping, Co. Clare

An eco retreat just 15 minutes walk from a shingle beach has options for tents or go all out with a bell tent furnished with bed and stove.

There’s even a feckin SAUNA, a pizza oven, and regular onsite yoga classes.

5. Dromquinna Manor, Co. Kerry

Want something seriously luxurious? Dromquinna Manor is the place for you my friend.

Their insane tents were made by safari tent experts in India and come with a wooden deck and goosefeather duvets. Onsite BBQ area is lit too.

6. Trannish Island Bothy, Co. Fermanagh

Fancy your own private camping island? You have to kayak over to this private spot that sleeps 12, and bring you own bedding, drinking water, cooking equipment, candles and firewood.

The old stone cottage site has a cosy wood burning stove, toilets, and showers.

7. Legan Castle Farmhouse, Co. Kilkenny

This 200-year-old farmhouse has bell tents that sleep six, with superking-size beds, Egyptian cotton linen and hot-water bottle.

This is not a cook your own, rubbing sticks together to get a camp fire type of affair…

8. Lough Avoher Adirondack Shelter, Co. Mayo

Situated on the Bangor Trail, one of the wildest walking routes in Ireland, this hut shelter sleeps five and has a picnic table and water butt.

Take note: fires are 100% not allowed in this area.

9. Mannix Point, Co. Kerry

If you wanna go camping for the views and nature, this is where you need to go.

Surrounded by mountains of the Iveragh Peninsula, this is a fave spot for impromptu trad sessions and all round roaring craic.

10. Green Acres, Co. Clare

Family fun and coastal views are what this class spot is all about.

You can do watersports nearby, or opt for an eye-opening dolphin and nature boat trip along the cliffs of the Shannon Estuary.
