This Irish Five Star Hotel Has Just Launched A Dreamy Afternoon Tea Picnic

Ashford Castle has always been on our dream hotels list, with its luxurious decor, classic elegance and that jawdroppingly beautiful spa.

But now, they’ve given us one more reason to make the trip.

Behold – the Afternoon Tea Picnic!

The Lodge at Ashford Castle arranges this special treat between 2 pm and 5pm daily and it can be served either at Wilde’s at The Lodge or, when sun shines on Lough Corrib, laid out on the lawn.

Savoury goodies include Kelly’s of Newport lamb sausage roll, Andarl Farm pork pie with apple jelly and Burren Smokehouse salmon, Dillisk cream cheese and pickled cucumber fingers, alongside a range from the salad bar including Kilmaine potato salad, red cabbage and fennel slaw and organic leaves with honey and mustard dressing.

It wouldn’t be afternoon tea with some sweet treats and your five-star picnic comes with free-range crème brûlée, tiramisu espresso and Bea Tollman’s famous cheesecake.

You can wash it down with tea and coffee or there’s also the option of homemade beverages served in vintage-style picnic bottles such as Alex’s Ginger Beer or Seb’s Iced Tea.

The Perfect Picnic Afternoon Tea costs €27.50 per person, or a Prosecco picnic afternoon tea costs €32.50 with a glass of frizzante.
