This Brand New Airbnb Feature Is A Game-Changer

Alana Laverty

For the last few years Airbnb has absolutely thrived.

And they’ve just launched their latest development – Trips

The new peer-to-peer marketplace launched yesterday and has two key features which will be great for both the provider and the visitor. Win-win

1. Experiences

Experiences are handcrafted immersive activities designed and led by local experts.

Trips launched yesterday with around 500 Experiences in 12 cities worldwide, including Los Angeles, San Francisco, Miami, Cape Town and Tokyo.

Always wanted to use Airbnb but didn’t have the space to host people overnight? Well now you can be their tour guide, workout partner, cooking accomplice, dancing partner, candid Instagram photographer, hiking buddy or surf bro in return for some cash.

Experiences offer unprecedented access and deep insights into communities and places that you wouldn’t otherwise come across, such as Truffle Hunting in Tuscany or the grime music scene in London. We think it’s pretty cool.

2. Places – guidebooks, meet ups and audio walks

Places offers online guidebooks and tips for local adventures, trips, dining recommendations and more – all curated by local experts that travellers can undertake on their own. It couldn’t be easier to discover thousands of secret spots recommended by local insiders and Airbnb’s community of hosts.

They’ve also announced an audio-tour partnership with Detour, maps that highlight local favorites based on where you’ve booked, and a partnership with Resy that will allow guests to book tables at local restaurants without leaving the Airbnb app.

Through Trips, Airbnb aims to make it easy with one app to book most of your travel needs.
