That October 3rd falls on a Sunday this year means it's just perfect to watch some movies
That's right, it's
Mean Girls day. As in "on October 3rd, he asked me what day it was" day. If you need a little refresher, get onto Netflix and rewatch (we hope it's a rewatch too and not your first time) the iconic movie. If you still can't get enough, after you watch
Mean Girls, here's a list of similar movies. And please don't go and watch
Mean Girls 2 - we pretend it never existed.

1. Book Smart
This 2019 coming of age film follows Molly (Beanie Feldstein) and Amy (Kaitlyn Dever) as they try to shed their bookworm personas ahead of high school graduation in exchange for a wilder lifestyle. The journey the girls go on resembles that of Cady's in
Mean Girls. You can watch
Book Smart on Netflix.
2. Easy A
Emma Stone is at her best in the 2010 film
Easy A. After getting caught in a lie, Olive finds herself at the centre of school gossip and soon loses control of the narrative she started. The way rumours spread in this school are not dissimilar to how they do in
Mean Girls once The Burn Book is released.
3. Legally Blonde
It's hard to believe that
Legally Blonde is now 20 years old. Elle Woods pursues Harvard Law School after a devastating break up to prove her intelligence. Reese Witherspoon is perfection in this role, and if you have time you should watch
Legally Blonde 2. The third installment is coming in 2022!

4. Clueless
Cher (Alicia Silverstone) lives a blessed life and wants nothing more than to share her good fortune. When new girl Tai (Britney Murphy) arrives, Cher and her best friend Dionne (Stacey Dash) take her under their wing and transform her, not unlike how Cady changes under the influence of The Plastics. Just as it does in
Mean Girls, it backfires in
Clueless. This film is loosely based on the Jane Austen novel
Emma.

5. Bring It On: All Or Nothing
Bring It On: All Or Nothing is the third installment of the franchise and arguably the best one (I am willing to die on this hill). Hayden Panettiere and Solange Knowles-Smith appear in the 2006 film that sees cheerleader Britney moving to a new school and having to adapt to her new surroundings. This has all the cattiness of
Mean Girls, with the added bonus of cheerleading.

6. Bride Wars
This 2009 rom-com is like a grown-up
Mean Girls. Best friends Liv (Kate Hudson) and Emma (Anne Hathaway) get engaged at the same time and fight for a wedding date in The Plaza. Soon the two girls are at each other's throats, pulling pranks and attempting to derail the other's big day. If Cady Herron and Regina George were getting married on the same day, it would look something like this.
7. 10 Things I Hate About You
Joseph Gordon Levitt and Heath Ledger star in this 1999 classic film. Loosely based off Shakespeare's play
The Taming of the Shrew, high school boy Cameron (Levitt) wants to take cool girl Bianca (Larissa Oleynik) to the prom. Problem is, Bianca is only allowed to date if her sister Kate (Julia Stiles) also dates. So Cameron approaches bad boy Patrick (Ledger) in an effort to find Kate a date. There's the same level of scheming and high school drama that appears in
Mean Girls.

8. John Tucker Must Die
Britney Snow plays unpopular girl Kate who gets sick of seeing bad boy John Tucker (Jesse Metcalfe) play all the girls in school. She teams up with three of his exes to teach him a lesson, not unlike how Janice and Damian set Cady up to take down Regina in
Mean Girls.
Sounds grool right? Which iconic movie is first on your list this Sunday?
