The Crown has finally cast its Lady Diana Spencer following huge speculation over who might get the role.
Netflix announced on Tuesday that Grantchester actress Emma Corrin will play a young Princess Diana in season four, though the character will not appear in season three as originally planned.
Season three is set to air on Netflix later this year, with Olivia Colman replacing Claire Foy as the Queen and Helena Bonham Carter playing Princess Margaret.
Jason Watkins, Josh O’Connor, Emerald Fennell, and Marion Bailey will also join them in season three.
Emma said, “I have been glued to the show since the first episode and to think I’m now joining this incredibly talented acting family is just surreal. Princess Diana was an icon, and her effect on the world remains profound and inspiring.
“To be given the chance to explore her through Peter Morgan’s writing is the most exceptional opportunity, and I will strive to do her justice.”
