Ryan Tubridy has teased the content of this week’s Late Late return

The last time we saw The Late Late Show, we had gotten well used to the sight of Ryan Tubridy virtually interviewing guests in an empty RTE studio.

While many would have hoped that by the time The Late Late Show returned in September, Ireland’s fight against Covid-19 would have progressed to the stage where a studio audience could be in place once more but that is sadly not the case. Tubridy is this week preparing for the chat show’s long-awaited return this Friday and there will only himself and a limited number of guests in place in Montrose for the season opener.

However, Tubs being Tubs, he hasn’t forgotten about paying tribute to the things we’ve all missed out on throughout 2020 and Electric Picnic will be given a special nod this coming Friday on the show. The festival was due to take place this weekend and Ryan promised listeners on his radio show today that he will “mark the absence” of EP.

He added that there will be a “certain musical guest, among other things” which leaves us to wonder which Electric Picnic headliner will be rocking into the studio or logging into a Zoom call. The likes of Snow Patrol, Lewis Capaldi and Picture This were all due to appear in Co Laois this weekend, so who knows, fans of any or all of the aforementioned could be in for a treat on the telly this Friday night.

However, Tubridy isn’t giving much more away just yet, saying: “I can’t give you the line-up. What are we on? Tuesday. Not yet, but I will”. Talk about leaving us in suspense.

The Late Late Show returns to our screens this Friday at 9.35pm on RTE One.
