It was nice knowing ya, summer – Thunderstorm warning issued for the entire country

Fiona Frawley

Sure it was nice while it lasted.

We knew the rain was coming, but we were treating it as an out of sight out of mind type thing. We may not be able to do that for much longer as Met Éireann have issued a Status Yellow Rain and Thunderstorm Warning for the entire country, valid until 8 this evening.

According to Met Éireann, the counties most at risk are Wicklow, Kildare, Laois, Offaly, Tipperary, Clare, Galway, Mayo and Roscommon, and there’s potential for heavy downpours and localised flooding.

However, temperatures are set to remain high. Which is great, who doesn’t love a sweat/rain combo. According to the forecaster, hot conditions will continue, with another warm and humid night ahead of us tonight.

Otherwise, the overview for the rest of the weekend is  “very warm… with lots of dry weather”. From next week they predict cooler conditions though, with showers likely.
