You have remembered us talking last week about this highly addictive Irish series that documentarian and journalist expertisé, Louis Theroux recommended?
Well, it's just been confirmed that it's going to be getting even more episodes after hundreds of people got in touch since the series ended.
Creators of the hugely popular ‘West Cork’ podcast, Sam Bungey and Jennifer Forde, exclusively revealed to Today FM’s Dermot & Dave that more episodes are on the way after new information was made available to them following the release of the 13-episode series.
However, Bungey and Forde were reluctant to give a completion date for the next installment of the podcasts.
Jennifer told Today FM that since the podcast ended, they’ve had everyone from retired Detectives in America to people more local to West Cork get in touch.
West Cork is Ireland's first true crime podcast, making it into Time magazine's 50 best podcasts in the world.
The popular series tells the story of Sophie Toscan du Plantier, a French film producer, who was found dead outside her holiday home near Schull, County Cork, on the night of December 23 1996.
Journalist Ian Bailey was arrested twice in relation to the murder; however, he was not prosecuted for the crime and he has always protested his innocence.
The case surrounding Sophie's death remains unsolved today.
The main image used, is a tombstone that was erected in Toscan Du Plantier's honour and is close to where she died.
Sam said that Gardaí were sure that nobody would want to speak to them while they were making the podcast as it's still an open case.
“One local Garda said that he wouldn’t speak to us and that no one should speak to us (on the force) because they didn’t want to comment on an open case.
We spoke to Detective Eugene Gilligan who hadn’t spoken publicly about the case before – he’s a forensic detective and was out there at the scene on the first night”
