Attention gluten free cake lovers of Cork!

If you’ve been on the hunt for delicious, good quality gluten free options in the rebel county, you need to check out Clonakilty Gluten Free Kitchen. Over the last few months, they’ve expanded from two to 20 stockists across the county and beyond, with everything from bread rolls, yogurt loaf and corn bread to brioche, apple tart and brack.

The company started out in 2015 as a specialised in-house bakery in Supervalu in Clonakilty. Following a chat with the mother of a Coeliac child who wanted a novelty birthday cake, owners Eugene and Catriona Scally identified a gap in the market for a wider gluten free offering and decided to invest in a specialist gluten free bakery. There are approximately 50,000 people  in Ireland living with coeliac disease and a further 400,000 who are gluten intolerant, so it’s easy to see why the bakery has been such a success so far!

While safety is one of their primary concerns with the brand only using suppliers that are certified gluten free, their main focus is on variety and taste. The products have been developed by expert bakers who have put a lot of time and care into creating the brands signature taste.

If you’re looking to get your hands on some delicious gluten free bakes and cakes, you can do so online through selected Supervalu stores, and in person in selected Supervalu and Centra stores across Munster. They’re also served at a selection of hotels including The Europe Hotel and The Great Southern Hotel in Killarney.
