Hot chocolate given the festive upgrade.

2020 has been a year of firsts – many of them things we’d all rather not have experienced but one positive has to be the universal shift in attitude towards Christmas. Christmas etiquette is a contentious topic and much debate arises each year, with vehement advocates for both sides. One the one hand you have those who think that November is too early to start the celebrations, on the other you have those who think it’s not early enough.

I generally fall within the former group because, much as I love this time of year, start the countdown too early and the season drags slightly. Circumstances are different this year though and I don’t think I’m alone in wanting the festivities to start a little earlier than usual.

Many places have already said ‘feck it’ and broken out the seasonal menus and decor including Union Grind in Cork who has just unveiled their new hot chocolate offerings… and they’re festive AF.

Made using full chocolate reindeer, customers can choose from three different options  – those being original (cream, marshmallows, caramel syrup), rainbow (cream, smarties, milk chocolate syrup) or, my personal favourite, chocolate mountain (cream, oreo biscuit, dark chocolate sauce).

Deliciously decadent and absolutely necessary in the run up to December 25th.
