Donegal set to say goodbye to this much loved plant-based café.

  Wholegreen siopa in Letterkenny, Co. Donegal has been an institution for its locals. The plant-based café and shop makes all its food daily on the premises using only high quality seasonal ingredients, and it's known as a spot to stop in for some breakfast, lunch, or snacks, particularly if you're veggie or vegan. It was only recently that Wholegreen was nominated in three categories (Best Cafe, Best Sustainable Practices and Best Free From) at the Irish Restaurant Awards 2022. However, despite "7 whole years of fun" owner Anna has taken to Instagram to say she's closing Wholegreen siopa. She expresses in her caption that despite loving the spot, she's "burnt out and in need of a long break." https://www.instagram.com/p/ChxoI2Kr-bl/ Anna conveyed her pride over the success of her plant-based café over the last seven years:

"Wholegreen has been my 3rd child, to open a plant based cafe in the North West and to have it thrive is something that I'm so unbelievably proud of, the fact that our food became to norm for so many people, vegans, veggies, people with allergies but mainly believe it or not meat eaters, just makes me smile every time I think on it."

But all is possibly not lost for the Letterkenny café. Anna acknowledges what a loss it will be to those who already struggle to eat out due to dietary requirements. Therefore she's actively encouraging anyone who's looking to take over the Wholegreen siopa business to get in touch with her, especially "if anyone fancies the challenge of feeding Letterkenny."
