Galway Food Tours has just launched a new guidebook that will allow foodies to explore the city like a true in-the-know local.
A highlight when in Galway, the award-winning tours have been guiding people around the city for over five years now. Bringing people to all the finest spots, the tours pay tribute to the incredible local food scene that Galway has come to be known for in recent years.
Now launching a brand-new guidebook, it aims to allow people to explore the best cafes, restaurants and bars on their own terms and at their own pace – perfectly timed given current circumstances and the need for social distancing. The latest business venture by Sheena and Gosia, the new guidebook is a labour of love bringing together over 40 of their personal suppliers while spotlighting the women’s favourite parts of the city.
Explaining a little more about the project, the women said that the intention is for people to explore Galway as they please, equipped with insider information and recommendations so they don’t miss out on any of the good stuff.
Sunshine yellow in colour, the keepsake pocketbook is filled with detailed descriptions of Galway, its people and all the great places to eat, drink and be merry in the City of Tribes. Not to mention vouchers and discounts that can be used across a number of different locations.

Concealed within its pages you’ll find tips on important topics such as where to find the best sourdough sandwiches, what market stalls you should bump to the top of your list and when the next trad session is in Tigh Choili. Describing it as a ‘true travel treasure’, owner Gosia later added: ‘this book has been created to highlight Galway and is one that can be treasured for years to come. The illustrations, the little inside notes and the overall sense of Galway within it means it will make its way into homes, rucksacks and tote bags across the country and world for years to come. That is the beauty of it.’
On sale for €35, you can pick one up in McCambridge’s, Ard Bia, Charlie Byrnes, Coffeewerk + Press and Tigh Neachtains. For all other retailers check out Galway Food Tours across all social channels and online.
