The Galway International Arts Festival may not be going ahead as planned this summer but organisers have been hard at work trying to come up with an alternative schedule of events for this Autumn.
Due to take place from September to October, the Autumn edition of the Galway International Arts Festival (GIAF) will feature a range of both in-person and online events. Speaking of the big news, the team took to social media, writing:
“It’s been a summer like no other… but now the time is right to add some extraordinary. Announcing Galway International Arts Festival’s Autumn Edition programme.
This September and October in Galway city and county. Indoors and outdoors, in person and online, all with your safety in mind.
We have had to radically rethink how we do things but one thing’s for sure, we look forward to safely gathering again to celebrate great art with everyone – either in person or online. We hope you can join us.”

Most events on the calendar are free – tickets for paid events will go on sale on Monday, August 10 at 1pm. As for what’s on the agenda? Plenty. Expect visual art exhibitions, theatre performances, talks, music and more.
And the added online element this year means that you can still enjoy the fun even if you can’t make it down to Galway in person.
