What restaurants are open in Galway? The question on everyone’s lips. And lucky for you we have the intel and will be updating this list daily as more places open their doors.

The country is getting back up and running, meaning that yes, all your fave restaurants will slowly be reopening their doors to the public as well. It’s been a long old slog without them and I for one will be very happy to see them back in business. Anyone else have their first meal out planned down to the last detail? Just me?
Thankfully, there are plenty of Galway spots reopening so you’ll be spoiled for choice. Below is a list of places reopening and the dates they’ll be back open for sit-in service.
Apoema Bistro
The Irish sister to Salsa Rosa Bistro in Lisbon, this is the place to go when you’re craving authentic Portuguese grub. Reopening July 1st.

Ard Bia
There’s been an Ard Bia shaped hole in our lives that only a plate of their delicious pancakes can fill. As for their coffee? We’ll take the lot. Reopening July 1st.
Asian Tea House/Buddha Bar
Tofu and cocktails are back on the agenda, baby. Reopening June 29th.
An Pucán
With one of Galway’s best outdoor spaces, this place never fails to deliver on craic. A great shout for your first meal/pint out.
Beef & Lobster
A relatively new addition to the Galway foodie scene, Beef & Lobster only opened in the City of Tribes at the end of last summer… a global pandemic is quite a lot to have to tackle in the first year of business so fair play, lads. Back open on July 2nd.
Bierhaus
Back in business this Friday, July 3rd, with a new menu to show off. Starting off with two sittings – one at 5pm and one at 8pm – they’re already taking bookings for groups of four to six people.
BóTown
Craft burgers and beers? Sure what more could you want. If neither of them appeal to you, their milkshakes will most definitely bring you to their yard. Serving up the good stuff as of today.
Black Cat
Jazzy name, jazzy nature. One of Galway’s resident wine/tapas/jazz joints, Black Cat returns from today, June 29th, and it’s a good thing too as they shared a video of their signature pork belly dish the other day and locals have been drooling ever since.
Brasserie on the Corner/Blakes Bar
Both Brasserie on the Corner and Blakes Bar are back open from June 29th – unveiling some new renovations and other exciting changes.
Burgerstory
An American diner-inspired restaurant, Burgerstory serve up burgers, fried chicken and hard ‘n’ soft shakes. Reopening July 1st.
Busker Browne’s/Kirby’s
Sharing a few photos of what customers can expect when they call in, Kirbys have all bases covered thanks to plenty of social distancing signage, a hand sanitising station and staff use of face shields when on duty. Back open June 29th.
Caribou
Galway’s answer to the likes of P Mac’s or Blackbird (a Lovin team fave), Caribou is a quirky little craft beer and games bar hidden away in Woodquay. Reopen as of July 22nd. towards reopening on July 23rd.
Carroll’s on Dominick Street
Home of the double-decker bus, Carroll’s on Dominick Street are back open now. Their outdoor beer garden is the perfect spot for one of their signature pizzas and a pint of the good stuff (whatever the ‘good stuff’ means to you). PSA – they have HEATED snugs, make sure to pre-book though.
Café Temple
Familiar with the ‘your body is a temple’ mindset? Temple Café runs on just that. Set on helping people see the value in what they eat and drink, they choose fresh, local, organic produce wherever possible. Reopening July 1st.
Caprice
Caprice has also reopened their picture-perfect doors. Make sure to have a cup of coffee for me – theirs is some of the best out west, in my humble opinion.
Cava Bodega
Located on Middle Street, Cava Bodega is Galway’s answer to Spanish cuisine. Reopen as of July 2nd.
Coffeewerk + Press
One of Galway’s dotiest coffee shops and with some of the city’s best coffee too. Part design-store, part café; Coffeewerk + Press combines art and coffee to showcase some of the best local and international talent.

Cooke’s
Back in business as of Monday, June 29th, the team at Cooke’s is delighted to be welcoming customers once again.
Corrib House Tea Rooms
My love for Corrib House is common knowledge by now and you can rest assured that they’re back. Reopen as of July 1st. Say hello to the old place for me, won’t you?
Dáil Bar
Crowned the best cocktails global winner last year, The Dáil Bar has you covered when it comes to a few after-work tipples. Back in business serving up food and drinks.
Dela
Brunch is back on the cards, and everyone knows that Dela is one of Galway’s finest brunch establishments. Get the pancakes and thank me later.
Deli La Tasca
Perched on Upper Dominick Street, it’s hard to miss Deli La Tasca and its bright orange exterior. Ready to fill the restaurant with the “buzz and brilliance” it’s come to be known for, they’re open for dine-in service.
Eastern Tandoori
Back in business, however, customers should note that table menus won’t be available so best make your decision before visiting. As if we haven’t been poring over our options for days already…
Esquires
Early morning and you’re probably in need of a mug of coffee as big as your head. If you nodded yes to that, call into Esquires and make sure to grab a bagel for good measure too. Brain fuel for the day.
Fat Freddy’s
Smack bang in the heart of Galway, Fat Freddy’s is a Quay Street classic. Good for catching up with friends, your next date night or even just a meal out with the fam, their famous wine bottle candles have been lit once again.
Fork Restaurant at Nox Hotel
Often classed as one of Galway’s trendiest hotels, Fork Restaurant is equal parts chilled out and stylish. Serving up everything from soup to pasta, pizza and fish.
Freshii
Their motto is: “Eat. Energise” and that’s exactly what we plan to do. Reopening as of June 29th.
Gaslight Brasserie at The Hardiman Hotel
The Hardiman Hotel’s onsite restaurant, back open from July 17th.
GBC Restaurant
A family-run coffee shop and restaurant, the team at GBC is eager to get back to it. Back open, they even have a new and improved restaurant area upstairs to allow for social distancing.
Gemelle’s
Right in the action down in Galway’s Latin Quarter, Gemelle’s is another family-run restaurant that locals love. Perfect for families, they’re back open once again. Make sure to give their brown bread recipe a try at home too.
Gigi’s at the G Hotel
Classed as “more than just a hotel dining room”, Gigi’s is the G Hotel’s AA Rosette-winning restaurant. The epitome of cool, they make their grand return on July 3rd.
Gourmet Tart Company
Back serving coffee and pastries with a smile from today.
Goya’s
Experts in all things sweet and savoury, they’re back open as of July 2nd. Please try their red velvet cake and report back… I’ve been drooling over it for days.
Handsome Burger
Some of Galway’s, and indeed Ireland’s, best burgers. The Handsome Burger guys are back welcoming bums on seats in their newly revamped garden. You can also find them out the beer garden at O’Connell’s.

High Cafe
Finding good Moroccan food outside of Morocco can be quite challenging, to say the least. Some might say it’s a fairly niche market. High Street Café in Galway seems to have it more than covered though and thankfully, they’re back in business.
Hooked
Set to welcome customers back inside from Thursday, July 30th. Masters of the sea and of anything seafood/fish related.
Hyde
A bar and gin parlour, Hyde is also known for its tasty brunch offerings. This place is as about the setting as it is the food. Reopen as of July 1st.
Il Vicolo
Overlooking the river, close your eyes and you could well believe you’re in Venice… the only giveaway being Galway’s oh-so-reliable rain clouds. Back in business from today and well worth your custom, even if the weather doesn’t cooperate.
John Keogh’s Gastropub
Call into John Keogh’s and you’ll find snugs and wooden partitions aplenty. Along with good food, drinks and friendly staff.
Kai
One of Galway’s finest foodie establishments, they’re back with a bang.
Kirwan’s Lane Restaurant
One of Galway’s better-kept secrets, Kirwan’s is a seafood lover’s dream – serving up loads of fresh seafood including scallops, prawns, smoked salmon, clams, mussels and crab claws to name but a few options.
Khow Thai
Running at a reduced capacity, Khow Thai is still serving up the goods however, customers should note that they’re not accepting walk-ins… so make sure to book ahead of time.
La Collina
Assuring customers that they’ll be smiling even behind their masks, La Collina have restarted their engines and fired up their cookers once again.
Lighthouse Vegetarian
Now with a second branch out in Terryland, make sure to call in and grab a sambo and one of their signature vegan bakes.
Loam
A Michelin-starred restaurant and wine bar in Galway city, the team at Loam are still putting the finishing touches on plans – gearing up to reopen on July 3rd.
Marinas Grill at The Galmont
Hard to top a good hotel breakfast and the gang at Marinas will be back serving up the works from July 3rd.
Massimo
Featuring a new and improved setup, tables are separated by quirky folding door dividers to help customers feel more at ease. Back in business as of June.
McBride’s & Co
Having recently relaunched a brand new menu, McBride’s is worth a visit to scope out what’s good. The seafood tagliatelle is calling out to me.
McCabe’s Gastropub
Out in Salthill, this traditional style pub is perfectly suited to social distancing with the interior kitted out with loads of individual booths for customer comfort.
McCambridge’s
A Galway institution, McCambridge’s are back in business – also offering a home delivery service if you’d prefer to shop from home.
McGettigan’s
A favourite amongst sports lovers, McGettigans and their 14 giant screens are also back up and running.
McGinn’s Hophouse
Woodfired pizzas and craft beers… sure what more could ya want? Great date night shpot *wink wink.
McSwiggan’s
A bar/restaurant McSwiggan’s has nailed the temperamental art of cooking a steak to perfection. A favourite with meat-eaters, for obvious reasons.
Milano
Things may feel different, but Milano has promised customers “not to compromise on the experience”. Back in business as of July 9th.
Mona Lisa
Make Mona Lisa smile and call in from today for a bite to eat… doing so would certainly make Alessio happy too.
Monroe’s
Monroe’s has upped their safety game with perspex dividers and space-out sitting to ensure social distancing is adhered to. There are now also separate entrances and exits and QR menus which you can scan and use via your phone.
Mr Waffle
With the word ‘waffle’ right there in the name, it would be criminal to order anything but waffles on your first trip back. Make sure you’re hungry because there’s plenty to fill your belly with here.
Murty Rabbitt’s
The large wooden thrones, while not exactly the comfiest choice of seating, certainly make you feel very important.
Oscars
Some of the absolute best seafood out west. Reopening on July 3rd.
Oslo Bar
Easily recognisable by its bright blue exterior, Oslo Bar in Salthill was the home of Galway Bay Brewery – Galway’s first and only microbrewery. Open as of June 29th.
Osteria Italiana Da Simone
Galway is spoiled for choice when it comes to Italian food – love of pizza/pasta is universal, don’t ya know? Osteria Italiana Da Simone is back open from today and according to them, they’re as excited as the day they first opened. Ditto.
O’Connell’s
Reopen as of July 22nd, and with the Dough Bros pizza van out back for good measure.
Pálás Kitchen & Bar
Yes, Pálas is a cinema but they also have an onsite restaurant and the team has been working hard to develop an exciting new menu. Reopen as of July 27th. A trip to the pictures is long overdue.
Papa Rich Salthill
One of my absolute faves, Papa Rich serves up some of Galway’s tastiest food and good news as their Salthill branch is reopen.
Pizza Pasta Napoli
Now serving from a third Galway location, they’re back in business and serving up some of the city’s tastiest pies. Seriously, their pizza is the stuff of dreams.

PROM Restaurant Salthill Hotel
Located out in Salthill, it would be a crime to have named it anything else. Back open from today, June 29th.
Pullman
One of Galway’s quirkiest restaurants, the Pullman restaurant actually comprises two of the original Orient Express carriages. Yes, really. Now reopen and definitely one to check off your bucket list.
Renzo Gallery Café
Centrally located right on Eyre Street, Renzo Gallery Café are back open – with plenty of sweet treats to boot.
Rúibín Bar
Perched down at Galway Harbour, Rúibín is back at it and ready to rock.
Sangria Tapas Restaurante
Back open and with a new adapted menu too. Plenty to offer, including in house hand-pressed corn tacos and a favourite El Salvador delicacy called Pupusas.
Scotty’s
A relatively well-kept secret in Galway, Scotty’s tends to be known mostly amongst the Cuirt na Coiribe residents given that it’s located in the courtyard of the student accommodation. If you’ve yet to enjoy a Scotty’s, let this be a sign that you should forgo cooking tonight and order from here. Reopening July 2nd.
Seven
Open since 2015, Seven quickly became one of Galway’s go-to spots – be that for food, drinks or a good boogie. Back in business from today.
Taaffes Bar
One of Galway’s dotiest ‘old man pubs’, their soup/sambo combo is always great soakage – and very tasty too.
Tartare
Reopening for sit-in service on June 30th, Tartare will also be reopening their wine bar (on July 2nd) for the first time since early March. Reservations can be made through the website.
Taylor’s Bar & Beer Garden
When Mr Sun does make his annual appearance, make sure to get thyself to Taylor’s where you’ll find one of Gaillimh’s best beer gardens.
Thai Garden Galway
You may not be able to jet over to Thailand just yet but thankfully finding authentic Thai food in Galway has never been easier. Back open, this will have to tide you over until travel is back on the cards.
The Cellar Bar
Galway’s favourite lunchtime haunt, they’ve got you covered when it comes to helping you through the day. Reopen as of June 29th.
The Galleon
Reopen as of July 2nd, there’s no need to pre-book as they’re accepting walk-ins… though you can, of course, call ahead if you’d so prefer.
The Kings Head
Back in action on July 2nd, The Kings Head serves up a mighty pint of plain and their mussels are some of the tastiest I’ve had to date.
The Skeff
Reopening both the bar and kitchen today, The Skeff will sort you out with a good roast dinner (and a few frozen strawberry daiquiris if you’re feeling bold).
The Universal
Due to reopen on July 1st, several dates are already booked out so best get in touch ASAP if you’re hoping to nab a spot.
Tribes Restaurant at The Clayton Hotel
The Clayton’s modern onsite restaurant is ready to welcome you back with open arms.
U Liotru Sicilian Street Food
Many people don’t even know this place exists but make sure that it’s firmly on your radar. Serving up tasty, authentic Sicilian food you’ll find them on Abbeygate Street. Open from June 29th.
Urban Grind West
Good coffee, great almond croissants. Their courtyard is now open and they have a new brunch menu to boot too.
Venice Italian Restaurant
One of the dotiest Italian restaurants this side of Italy. Back open and the perfect spot for your next date night meal out.
Vocho Burrito
Probably one of Galway’s quirkiest spots, Vocho is a Mexican restaurant housed in a shipping container. The first of its kind, everything is made fresh in house and their burritos look bangin.
Wa Café
Wa Café will reopen for small bookings of groups of 6 – contact staff for more info and to make a booking. Still open for takeaway and also selling at the Galway Market.
Western Restaurant
Nestled right in the heart of the city, this place has always focused on using fresh, locally sourced food and you can expect more of the same from today.
Wholly Cow Burgers
Located out in Newcastle, these guys know good burgers. They also do sharing platters that make for a great excuse to catch up with a mate over some grub.

Woozza Pizza
If it’s pizza you’re after, Woozza will sort you out and their wood-fired pizza oven is back in action.

Some of the best pub food in Galway. Good value and huge portions – always a winner. Reopen from June 29th.
56 Central
With happiness as their ethos, this place oozes positivity and good vibes. Perched right in the action on Shop Street, this is a popular choice with the more health-conscious amongst us. Expect them back on July 2nd.
