CNN’s Donie O’Sullivan has plenty of support back on his home turf in Cahersiveen with staff at the local Centra spotted wearing ‘Donie for President’ jumpers in his honour.

Becoming somewhat of an overnight sensation, Donie O’Sullivan won the country over with his now-famous news report during the Capitol Hill riots. Hailing from Cahersiveen in Kerry, it’s clear that the local community are still some of his biggest supporters and staff at a nearby Centra have gone above and beyond to show so.

Pulling out all the stops for inauguration day yesterday, workers made sure that the shop was kitted out for the big event with staff even replacing their usual weekday uniform with ‘Donie for President’ jumpers.

Making no secret of their love for the CNN reporter, staff later shared the images with followers over on Facebook, writing:

“Inauguration Day tomorrow in the US… we’re giving local hero Donie O’Sullivan our full support.”

Speaking to the Irish Examiner, store owner Vincent Devlin said that they’re all “delighted” to see someone from the locality doing so well.

“We have been following Donie’s journey over in the US and are very proud of his brave reporting over the last couple of weeks.

“We wanted to have a bit of fun on Inauguration day to show that we are cheering him on back home.”
