The nation has been hoping that Curtis will teach them how to dance since Love Island left our screens earlier this month. Well, it seems we should have been looking to 99-year-old Irishman Jim McManus instead.

The Waterford local showed his skills in Argentina at the World Tango Championships where he danced with Argentine partner Lucia Seva.

Competing against 744 couples from 36 countries around the world, the duo’s performance earned them high praise and an ovation from onlookers.

The 99 year-old isn’t short of energy, admitting that he only took up tango in 2002 when he was already in his eighties! An avid member of the Waterford Tango Group, a GoFundMe page was set up to fund his trip overseas.

Jim’s secret? “Eating the right sort of things… and avoiding certain things, like too much booze and fags”. Oh and lots of dancing!
