A Sir Alex Ferguson documentary is coming to Amazon Prime

James Fenton

Sir Alex Ferguson is the subject of an upcoming Amazon Prime documentary which will be titled ‘Sir Alex Ferguson: Never Give In.’

Sir Alex Ferguson: Never Give In will be based around anecdotes recounted from the legendary former Manchester United manager to his son Jason, who will be taking up directing duties on the project.

The Scot told Jason some of the most important stories from his glittering career as he recovered from emergency surgery from a brain haemorrhage which he suffered in May 2018. The programme will include extensive unseen footage as well as contributions from Ferguson’s wife Cathy and their sons, along with players such as Ryan Giggs, Eric Cantona, Gordon Strachan and Archie Knox.

Speaking about the film, Ferguson said: “Losing my memory was my biggest fear when I suffered a brain haemorrhage in 2018. In the making of this film I was able to revisit the most important moments of my life, good and bad. Having my son Jason direct this film has ensured an honest and intimate account.”

Sir Alex Ferguson retired as Manchester United manager in 2013 after 27 years in the Old Trafford dugout. He led the Red Devils to 13 Premier League titles during his reign as well as two Champions Leagues, five FA Cups and four League Cups. Before all that, he conquered Scottish football with unfashionable Aberdeen, winning three league titles and the European Cup Winners Cup.

Sir Alex Ferguson Never Give In will be released on Amazon Prime on May 29.
