A young girl’s GAA ball that was lost on a Waterford beach has been found in Wales

She must have given it some kick.

A 10-year-old girl is delighted today after GAA ball she lost on a Waterford beach was located in Llanrhystud, west Wales. A Facebook user across the Irish Sea posted a picture of the lost ball over the weekend along with the words ‘If anyone knows Aoife Ní Niocaill, her football’s just washed up on Llanrhystud Beach – west Wales! Wonder how long it’s taken to get here from Ireland?’

The post got a bit of traction and before long, Aoife’s dad commented to say that she ‘lost her ball on Woodstown Beach last Sunday. It went in the water as the tide was going out and all we could do was watch it drift away! I showed her the picture you posted – she thinks she’s famous now!’

The story led to numerous comments about whether the ball will have to isolate now or whether it received special permission to cross the Irish Sea due to Brexit rules. The main thing is that a young girl will soon be reunited with her ball and and that’s the kind of good news we need at the moment!

Well done to all involved in helping to return the ball to its rightful owner. Now who’s going to play it in the movie? Wilson from Cast Away has to be a front runner.
