Friends star David Schwimmer has weighed in on whether Ross and Rachel really were on a break

Were they? Weren’t they? According to David Schwimmer, they most definitely were. On a break, that is.

Ah, the age-old question… were Ross and Rachel really on a break, or weren’t they? There are advocates for both sides. Some Friends fans say they were, others fervently say the opposite but one thing’s for sure, neither side will ever admit they’re wrong.

Whether you’re a Friends fan or not, everyone knows the scene I’m talking about. The words “we were on a break” are so ingrained in popular culture that, frankly, I’d be impressed if you didn’t know the reference.

Here’s my take on it (not that you asked or anything). While the word ‘break’ technically was used, I don’t think it’s an accurate descriptor of the situation. They had a fight, he stormed out to get frozen yoghurt or whatever. Don’t think that means they were done for. Am I wrong?

Depends who you ask but if that person is David Schwimmer then, yes. Speaking to Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show, the Friends star (he plays Ross just in case ya didn’t know) set the record straight on what went down.

Acknowledging that “people are so passionately divided” on the subject, he was steadfast in his response saying: “Yeah, it’s not even a question. They were on a break.”

Heart. Broken. Hard to separate the artist from the art when they’re both sticking to the same story. Jennifer Aniston… over to you.
