This American Comedian Has The Most Miserable Yet Hilarious Stories Of Ireland

Sarah

Irish people are known for having fairly feckin random stories that they tell over and over again, but we can’t think of many yarns that can beat the tales of comedian Chris Gethard’s recent visit to Ireland.

Chris, who has appeared on stage with Amy Schumer, had a lot of lovely things to say about Irish people and the beauty of countryside, but then he said that “you are only 30 seconds away from the saddest conversation you’ve ever heard.”

Hmm. If you have country grandparents you will know this to be true.

Chris went to visit his old ancestral town, and got talking to a man who said he remembered Chris’ great-uncle.

“Do you remember any happy memories involving my family?”, Chris asked.

‘I do remember once your great uncle saved a simpleton from drowning in a pond’” the old fella replied. Ehhh… right.

There was also a weird gun tale, and memories of his grandfather fighting Protestants on a bridge.

The worst thing is we don’t even find this too shocking – but we can only imagine the look of horror on the American audience’s faces.

Chris, you’re a gas man.
