During the elongated election count, King indicated to followers how proud he is of his Irish heritage and he reiterated that today during an appearance on Sunday With Miriam on RTE Radio One. Speaking to Miriam O’Callaghan, he said “one of the great seeds planted in me from this election, and the interest in Ireland, is that I get there and not just once. I’ve been to Ireland several times but it was always just for work. I’ve never been there as a tourist.”

Kings ancestry originates in Galway and he told Miriam that his cousin Jacqueline Kenny will have a pint waiting for him in Keogh’s pub in Ballyconneely whenever he gets the chance to come over. “I would like to come and I would just tell the barkeep it better be more than one pint. I get thirsty,” he said.

Let’s hope for John’s sake, 2021 will offer some opportunity to head to Connemara for a scoop or two. You can listen to his full chat with Miriam via this link.
