Dermot Kennedy posts glowing tribute to the man who has inspired him ‘more than anyone’

Dermot Kennedy is very much conquering the music world at the moment but the singer has revealed that it’s a man from an entirely different profession that has inspired his rise to success.

Taking to social media today, Dermot Kennedy posted a picture of himself wearing a Manchester United jersey with ‘Keane 16’ on the back, in tribute the former Red Devils and Ireland captain Roy Keane. The pic was captioned with the words ‘Roy Keane has inspired me more than anyone, since I was a kid. I may move in a different field, but I took so much from him in terms of attitude and how to approach the things you’re most passionate about.’

The Giants singer added that ‘You get out what you put in, and the results will always reflect your effort. I can only hope to inspire someone in the same way’ and the words are straight from the Roy Keane mantra of always giving 110% to the cause.

The jersey appears to be one that was worn by United from 1996 to 1998, an era when Keano was entering the prime of his career and one in which a young Dermot Kennedy was clearly watching his exploits fondly.

Now that Roy’s on social media, perhaps Dermo will even get a reply? We’ll have to wait and see.
