‘Derry Girls’ creator confirms a movie could be on the cards

Sweet suffering Jehovah!

Derry Girls creator, Lisa McGee, has confirmed the news we’ve all been waiting to hear – a Derry Girls movie is definitely on the cards.

This comes in response to a question put to her by a reporter for the Red Carpet News on whether fans will ever see the girls embarrassing themselves on the big screen.

Turns out the answer is YES!

“That’s definitely something we’re talking about and something I’d like to explore.”

Adding that it’s a matter of figuring out the right storyline and finding the right time, McGee said that it’s an exciting time for the group who are “just on the cusp of adulthood” -later describing them as “eejits” that “get into a lot of trouble”.

That’s putting it rather lightly I’d say.

Putting people’s grá for the show down to its relatability, McGee said:

“There’s a fondness for them because they’re so flawed and stupid at times…people recognise themselves in that”.

Season three will see lots of new guest stars join the antics as the gang continue to fumble their way through life. And we can’t bloody wait.
