Saoirse-Monica Jackson of Derry Girls fame has landed a role in upcoming DC movie the Flash.

The actress, who plays Erin in Channel 4’s hit sitcom Derry Girls, will join the likes of Ben Affleck and Ron Livingston in the cast in a move that is sure to build her profile across the Atlantic. Affleck will be appearing as Batman and Livingston as The Flash’s father, Henry Allen.

The movie is scheduled to be released in cinemas in November 2022 and will be the first standalone adventure for The Flash. The character previously appeared in Justice League and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

27-year-old Jackson has starred in two seasons of Derry Girls so far, with the filming of a third put on hold due to Covid-19 restrictions. The comedy has been a huge hit on both sides of the Atlantic and tells the story of a group of teenagers living through The Troubles in Derry during the 1990s.
